ESOL

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)

In elementary schools, the ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) program supports students whose first language is not English by helping them develop the language skills needed to succeed academically and socially. ESOL teachers work with students to build listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills through targeted instruction that connects language learning with grade-level content. They also collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure lessons are accessible and meaningful for English learners. In addition, ESOL programs help students adjust to the school environment and celebrate their cultural and linguistic diversity, fostering an inclusive community where all students can thrive.
